Jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, 2 and iPod touch 4G, 3G on iOS 5.1.1 untethered with Redsn0w
Previously, we posted a tutorial on how to jailbreak your A5 devices untethered with the non-DFU method using the Redsn0w tool to on iOS 5.1.1. This time however, we are going to go through jailbreaking untethered 5.1.1 using the DFU mode (Device Firmware Update) using Redsn0w 0.9.12b2. This method can only be used on A4 devices (referring to the processor), the non-DFU method can be used for A5 devices only as iPhone 4S and the new iPad.
Although the non-DFU method is preferred most of the times, it’s advisable to use the old school DFU method for people who have a lot of data on their A4 devices. In addition to that, it works better with iCloud. The non-DFU method has issues with iCloud syncing and some how those issues aren’t there when you jailbreak using the DFU method.
