The sixth-generation iPhone was unveiled to the whole world a few days ago at Apple’s media event. Pre-orders started last week. Those who weren’t able to place pre-orders last week are in for some mixed news, good as well as bad.
The good one is that retailers and Apple are going to offer the latest handset on Friday 8AM. However, you may not be pleased to know that people have already started lining up to get their hands on the device. The news comes in from Fortune, informing that a line has been seen outside the Firth Avenue Apple Store in New York City. People started showing up at 8AM last Thursday. Yes, waiting outside for 8 days to get their hands on a smartphone seems like crazy, but looks like they are looking for more than just buying the handset.

Fortune talked to seven people, out of which 6 informed they were there for promotion. A few guys are looking for exposure for their new social media setup, and a few musicians were there as well. Others were in line to sell their spot, or get their hands on the device first and sell it to people who were less patient.
This trend has become common in the last few years. Products released by Apple are high in demand. If you can’t wait in a line, then as stated before, several retailers will be selling the iPhone 5 this Friday, at 8AM local time zone. Will you go get one?
